Leaves

Hello there! I'm super excited to be the Guest Designer over at The Male Room Challenge!!! YAY!!! A GIANT thank you to Helen and the team for this wonderful opportunity!!!

This time around the challenge theme is "leaves."

Autumn is my favorite season. It's also my husband's favorite season---primarily because he's a hunter and a football fan---but also because we love autumn hiking adventures here in the mountains---the crisp air and the colorful leaves covering the trees and trails. So that was my inspiration for my card:

I die-cut all of my pieces for the branch, leaves, and acorns from white cardstock. I added ink to each one with blending brushes and a selection of Catherine Pooler inks. I splattered the leaves and acorns with metallic gold watercolor and then assembled the pieces onto my card popping up one of the acorns for a little dimension.

The sentiment was hot foiled with copper foil and then die-cut with the coordinating die. I love the touch of shine it adds :)

Thank you for visiting!!!

I hope you'll join us over at The Male Room Challenge! I look forward to seeing your creations!!!

Have a fantastic week!!!

Birthday Poppies

Hello there! Today I'm sharing a card I created for two challenges: (1) Retro Rubber Challenge - "Anything Goes" and (2) The Flower Challenge - "Add Spots Or Stripes."

I'm not exactly sure when the Painted Poppies stamp set from Altenew was released but I know it's been in my stash for quite a few years and I still love it! Here I just used two of the images in the set for a bold, graphic look. Who doesn't love black and white + stripes + a pop of color?!?!!! The sentiment is also from an old set from Ellen Hutson called Succulent Sentiments. I LOVE that font!!!

Giving this to my neighbor friend. I hope she likes it!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you're having a great weekend!

You're Dog-Gone Awesome

Happy Friday! Today I'm playing along with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: "4 Legged Friends."

Here's my card:

This is such a super simple A1-size card, but I was so happy with how cute it turned out that I made two more:

I will be sending one of these cards to our local animal shelter along with a monetary donation. Many of you may already know that in mid-January of this year we lost our sweet yellow lab, Pepper, suddenly and unexpectedly, to an aggressive form of cancer called hemangiosarcoma. Pepper was only 7.5 years old and she was central to our lives. We were never blessed with children, so Pepper was the creature we poured all of our love and energy into. She was an incredible bird hunter, an amazing hiking partner, a road trip pro, and our very best friend. She brought so much joy to our lives every single day and taught us we were so much stronger than we ever thought we could be. We miss her like crazy and continue to struggle to heal our broken hearts. I opened an Etsy shop at the end of November 2022. In March of 2023 (after losing Pepper) I decided to start donating $1 per item sold in my shop to the local animal shelter in memory of our sweet girl. I'm proud to say that the card above will be accompanied by my first $100 donation to the shelter. I am so thankful for this hobby and this wonderful community. Creating has been very therapeutic for me and I've received so many beautiful handmade cards and thoughtful messages during this difficult time. Thank you all.

Thank you for visiting!!!

Enjoy your weekend!

Enjoy Every Little Moment

Happy Tuesday! The current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is "anything goes," so I'm popping in today to share a birthday card I created. This one is for one of my neighbor girlfriends whose birthday is Friday. She's an avid hiker so I thought this would be perfect for her!

This Designer Series Paper pack from Stampin' Up had my name written all over it! I liked it so much I grabbed two packs!!! It's full of mountain scenes and it's absolutely gorgeous! Also makes for quick and easy cards----this card is simply designer series paper, die-cuts, and a sentiment stamp---LOVE!!!

I added a bit of sparkle to the moon with an aqua shimmer pen (tough to capture in the photo but shimmers beautifully in person).

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a fabulous day!!!

Birthday Wishes

Today I'm playing along with Seize The Birthday Challenge :) I skipped the toppings this time around and just went with the "Anything Goes Birthday" option ;)

Here's my card:

This is a new-to-me stamp set from Stampin' Up called Sea Turtle. I absolutely LOVE sea turtles!!! I think they are such magical creatures and I literally squeal with delight every single time we encounter them on snorkeling adventures!!!

My sister-in-law is also a huge fan of anything ocean or beach related. She's about to turn 60 later this week, so I just dropped this in the snail mail for her. I hope she likes it!

I had so much fun making this card that I made a second version too...

On this one I used a darker solid background panel and some Halo embossing powder (WOW! inspired by...Catherine Pooler) on the bubbles. The iridescent sparkle is so fabulous in person!!!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Have a wonderful week!!!

AAA Cards Challenge 240 - Pink Birthday

Happy Sunday! I'm so excited to be the Guest Designer for AAA Cards Challenge - Game 240 - Pink Birthday!!! Thank you so much to the team for having me!!!

I was inspired by not only the theme of "pink birthday" but also the balloons in the inspiration photos :) I immediately thought of an older but fabulous stamp set that I have in my stash called Birthday Balloons (Papertrey Ink). Here's my card:

I inked the balloons up in Ballet Slipper and Honeysuckle (Concord & 9th), stamping two directly onto the focal panel and then die-cutting the third one so I could pop it up. The "happy birthday" sentiment string is part of a coordinating stamp set called Birthday Strings (Papertrey Ink). I also added some clear Wink of Stella to the confetti but it was challenging to capture in the photos.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out and plan to make some more cards using different colors and some of the other sentiment strings.Yay!

I had such a great time playing along with this challenge and hope you'll join in on the fun!!! Can't wait to see what you create!!!

Have a fantastic day!!!

You're A Good Egg

Today I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #585 :)

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

One of my husband's colleagues recently gave us some eggs from her chickens, so I wanted to send her a thank you note. I knew I definitely wanted to use the Good Egg by Brandi (Essentials By Ellen) stamp set and coordinating dies to make my card. And Judy's sketch made me think about the Watercolor Stripes Cover Die from Altenew that's been in my stash for ages but hasn't seen nearly enough love. I decided to try die-cutting it from woodgrain cardstock to create the look of wooden planks. What do you think? Success? I layered it up with a piece of sunshine rays patterned paper and that set the scene for my cute little hen.

I had so much fun making this card!!! I hope my husband's colleague likes it :)

Thank you for visiting! Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Chef

Hello there! Today I'm playing along with this fabulous sketch over at The Paper Players Challenge:

Here's my take:

A friend of mine (whom I've known since kindergarten) requested a couple of custom cards recently :) One of those cards is for her son who will be graduating from high school in June. After graduation he's going on to study to be a pastry chef. I instantly thought of this Recipe For Happiness stamp set from MFT. Fun!!!

The school colors at the university he'll be attending are red, gray, and white, so I incorporated those into the design.

I hope she likes this card option...but I have another just in case ;) I'll share the second option later this week.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Have a great day!!!

The World Is Full Of Amazing Things

Playing along with a couple of challenges today: (1) The Male Room Challenge: Stencils And/Or Dies and (2) Never-Before-Used-Schtuff Challenge :)

This was my first time using the Moon Bay Stencil Trio from Waffle Flower. I love the beautiful, peaceful scene this set of stencils creates. However...I was SOOO indecisive about my color choices. Anyone else struggle with that when it comes to stencil sets??? I have such a tough time visualizing how it's going to come together in the end. Well...after several attempts I was pleased with how this one turned out and decided it would be a good card to send to our nephew who was recently deployed to eastern Africa. What do you think?

I hope he'll be excited to get some happy mail from back home.

Thanks for visiting!

Have a great day!!!

Enjoy Your Special Day

It's snowing here in the mountains today, so I'm having lots of fun spending time in my craft studio and making cards for upcoming birthdays :)

The theme at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is "Anything Goes." I'm linking this one up over there:

My neighbor friend has a birthday coming up later in April. We really enjoy going on hiking adventures together, so I thought this Mountain Scene Cover Plate from Erin Lee Creative was the perfect fit for making her a card for her special day!

She also loves bright, happy colors, and that's what inspired my color combo.

I paired my scene up with a foiled sentiment from an ephemera pack by Pinkfresh Studio. These are so handy to have around and I love the touch of shimmer they add to my creations!

And that's it. Pretty simple. No stamping on this one (*gasp)! That's a rarity for me ;)

Thanks for visiting!

Have a great day!!!
