Sending Warm And Cozy Hugs

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm playing along with The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge :) The theme is "Anything But A Card," so I created some gift card holders using the Coffee Gift Card Holder Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps. So super fun!

Here's a look:

The dies make these so easy to create! The sleeve slides on and off to access the gift card and also serves to hold the gift card in place.

I watched a video by my incredibly talented friend, Nichol Spohr, where she used vellum for the sleeve, and I really loved the way it allowed more of the patterned paper to show on the overall design.

I had such a great time creating these that I decided to make some more in other patterns!

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far!

Thanks for visiting!!!

For You

Happy Sunday! Today I'm playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge :)

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

This is an A1 size card which measures 3 1/2" x 4 7/8". I don't make this size card very often but I do love it---especially for sets of cards. I ended up making a set of 4---keeping the same layout but changing up the colors, patterned papers, and sentiments.

I had so much fun dressing these Concord and 9th die-cut pumpkins up in plaid (Lawn Fawn)! They're so festive! I think these would make a great little Autumn giftie for friends or family!

Thanks for visiting!

My husband and Pepper are out bird hunting, so I'm having lots of fun getting crafty in my studio! Hope you're having a great weekend!

Welcome To The World

Hello there! Today I'm playing along with two challenges: Day of the Month Card Club (a new-to-me challenge) and Freshly Made Sketches.

The theme at the Day of the Month Card Club is "Elephant Appreciation Day"---how super fun!

And here's the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches:

My card features the Floral Print Silhouette stamps and dies from Concord and 9th.

I used Mint To Be and It's A Girl inks from Catherine Pooler for the background circle and the flowers. Then I heat embossed the leaves in gold. I think this would make a sweet baby card :)

I had so much fun stamping that I couldn't resist making another card with a different color combo: Aquatini and Orange Twist (Catherine Pooler). I used the same layout but changed up the silhouette die and the sentiment to create a thank you card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

MFT 2020 Card Design Superstar Contest - Clean and Simple Genius Entry

Today I'm super excited to share a card I created for MFT's 2020 Card Design Superstar contest :) I'm entering this into the Clean and Simple Genius category.

The images and sentiments in the Merry Moments stamp set by MFT are absolutely MAGICAL!!! I love how this Santa is stopped in his tracks...gazing toward the sky...as if in complete awe of his surroundings. My husband and I have a dream to see the Northern Lights, so that was my inspiration for the background panel. I did a bit of "swinking" (swiping the ink pads directly onto the paper) to try to create a Northern Lights look. I finished off the background with splatters of white acrylic paint...because, of course, there's the lightest snowfall falling :) The snow drifts were cut with the Snow Drifts Die-namics (MFT) and I added some clear glitter to the edges---where there is snow...there is sparkle ;)

I had so much fun making this card! Thanks to MFT for hosting this contest and pushing me to stretch myself creatively.

Have a fabulous day!

Every Shade Of Happy

Had some more fun "swinking" yesterday :) This one also uses the current sketch over at CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge.

I love this sentiment from Be The Rainbow (Gina K), and I thought it would be fun to pair it up with a rainbow that was created by swinking = swiping the ink pads directly onto the cardstock. I have to admit...I was pretty excited about the results :)

Thanks for visiting!

Hope you're having a happy Friday!!!

Thinking Of You

Today I'm sharing a card I made for The Flower Challenge. I just can't seem to stop inking up these beautiful blooms from Sketchbook Florals (Taylored Expressions). This time around I went with some softer browns and pinks---a very different combo for me---but fitting (I think) for a "thinking of you" card.

I created the pattern behind the flower with two of the stamps included in the Field Notes Stamp Set (Taylored Expressions). They're stamped in Milk Chocolate ink (Altenew). The sentiment is actually heat embossed in gold---unfortunately that's tough to see in the photo, but it is quite pretty in person.

Six inches of snow yesterday here in the mountains. It's beautiful, but I really hope we haven't completely skipped autumn :)

Have a fabulous day!

Celebrating You!

Hello there! Today I'm sharing a card I created using the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches...and a new (to me) technique called "swinking" ;)

Here's the sketch:

...and here's my card:

I used the "swinking" technique (swiping an ink pad directly onto the paper) to create the two vertical swooshes behind the flowers. This is such a fun technique, and there are lots of ways to swink!!! My friend, Ardyth, has a great video showing lots of examples. You can find a link to the video in her blog post HERE.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Prayers Your Way Today

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the current Time Out Challenge. The theme is "season," and since Autumn is my favorite season that's the direction I went with my creation.

I die-cut the leaves from white cardstock and then added color with Distress Oxide Inks. I've seen quite a few patterned paper packs that toss in a hint of teal or aqua with the traditional autumn color palette, and I really love the look of that, so I tried that combo out here.

I hope you like my card for today! I had so much fun making it!

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day!

Supplies:

Stamps: Pen and Ink (Papertrey Ink)

Ink: Mushroom (Concord and 9th)

Distress Oxide Inks: Carved Pumpkin, Barn Door, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Scattered Straw (Ranger)

Dies: Leaf Silhouettes (Papertrey Ink), Stitched Rectangles (Lil' Inker)

Cardstock: White (Ink To Paper)

Patterned Paper: The Holiday Collection 6x6 Paper Pack (Avery Elle)

You're On My Mind

The inspiration for the current "CASE the Designer" challenge over at Global Design Project is absolutely fabulous and features a fun (new-to-me) technique of creating a textured background panel with die-cuts. This technique does take a bit of work, but the results (in my opinion) are totally worth it :)

Here's my card:

I really love the look of the white on white that DT member, Emma, used on her card, so I also chose to go that route. I die-cut 10 of the outline leaves and adhered them with liquid glue in a pattern onto my cardstock panel. I added a stitched die-cut frame on top, stamped my sentiment strip, backed it with a kraft strip and added it to the card following Kayla's layout. To finish, I die-cut one more outline and one of the solid leaves from white cardstock and inked them up with Carved Pumpkin and Barn Door Distress Oxide Inks (Ranger). I like the pop of color against the neutrals :)

I thought about adding some twine or embellishments, but decided against it. In May I sent my grandma a box of assorted cards for her own personal use. She's 89, and she's always loved sending cards, but because of the pandemic she hasn't been able to get out to shop. Well, I spoke with her last Friday and she's used up all of the cards I sent her in May :) So, I'm in the process of making more for her. That being said, the cards I give her need to be relatively flat so they don't require any extra postage or special mailing. I hope she loves this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!!!

Tie Dye Happy Birthday

Working on building up my stash of "guy cards," so today I'm playing along with The Male Room Challenge and Just Add Ink.

I recently purchased the Tie Dye Layering Stencil Set from Erin Lee Creative :) It's brilliant, and I absolutely LOVE it!!! So perfect for loads of different occasions and ideal for masculine cards. Here's what I created:

Isn't that fun?!?!!! And these layering stencils look fabulous in pretty much any color combo---the sky is the limit!!! For this one I used Distress Oxide Inks in Pumice Stone, Carved Pumpkin and Barn Door. The sentiment is also from Erin Lee Creative. The set is called Script Sentiments and I think that font is awesome! Reminds me of a signature on a piece of artwork, so I thought it was a great fit for this card.

While I was at it...I decided to try some additional color combos. Here's one using Scattered Straw, Barn Door and Salty Ocean:

I turned this panel 180 degrees (compared to the previous one)...I just liked it better that way for some reason. You could also turn it 90 degrees to create a landscape-oriented card. Super versatile!

Thanks for visiting!

I hope your September is off to a wonderful start!!!
