Thinking Of You

Happy Saturday! Today I'm sharing a card I created for the current Just Add Ink Challenge. This time around it's a "Just Choose Two" theme and I chose "foliage" and "masking"---such a fun combo!

My card features a couple of products from The Greetery including Lovely Silhouettes from the Wild Elegance Collection that was just released in August and an older stamp set called Sentiment Suite: Thinking Of You. The products from The Greetery are always so gorgeous, and I was super lucky to borrow these stamps from my sweet and talented friend, Laurie Willison, at a recent crafty retreat in order to make this card (Thanks so much, Laurie!!!).

I used some torn pieces of Gina K Masking Magic and blended Distress Oxide Inks to create the colorful strip on my focal panel. I've seen Gina K do this technique several times in her videos and I always LOVE the results!!! (You can find her YouTube channel HERE.) I stamped the silhouette foliage over top and then die-cut the panel with A2 Layers dies from Waffle Flower to be slighter smaller than my card base. I stamped the sentiment and then added some black splatters. I adhered the panel to a white card base and then finished it off with some gold glitter enamel dots. Simple and pretty!

Thanks for visiting!

I hope your weekend is off to a great start!!!

Peek-A-Boo Slider Card

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This time around Simon Says: Interactive. Fun!

I recently watched Rachel Tessman of Stamp Your Art Out make some peek-a-boo slider cards as alternative projects using the supplies in the March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit. I was so inspired I just HAD to try it out! You can find her video and more details on how to create peek-a-boo slider cards in her blog post HERE.

And without further delay, here's my very first peek-a-boo slider card. (This is what it looks like when it's closed.)

Then...as you start to open it up...

...and when it's fully open...

Oh my goodness! I had such a great time making this!!! It's like magic :) And it was super duper simple to do! I will definitely be making more peek-a-boo sliders soon :)

Here's one more look:

Also wanted to share a couple of other non-interactive cards I made using the supplies from the March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit. I really enjoy using the supplies in the kit, adding some of my own supplies, and putting my own spin on the layouts. Loads of fun!

Thanks for visiting!

It's going to be a beautiful day here in CO, so Pepper and I are heading out for a hike!

Have a fantastic week!!!

Thinking Of You

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the current Make The Cards Challenge.

This card was very much inspired by a video on Taylored Expressions' YouTube channel where Susan Block was creating fabulous gel prints. You can check out the video HERE.

I haven't jumped aboard the gel printing train (yet...wink) but I thought I could create something similar with heat embossing and ink blending. I'm really happy with how it turned out :)

Thanks for visiting!

Have a great week!!!

Thinking Of You

Hello there! Today I'm playing along with Uniko Challenge 63 - Anything Goes.

My card features two fabulous stamp sets from Uniko Studio: (1) Just Because and (2) Simply Said Blocks II:

I used the Masking Stencils - Squares (from Taylored Expressions) and Distress Oxide Inks to create the background for that gorgeous silhouette image from Just Because by Uniko Studio. I stamped the sentiment in black, trimmed it out and adhered it to the panel. Then I attached my completed panel to a light gray card base. I love how versatile these Uniko Studio stamp sets are and how they make it so easy to put together a quick but beautiful card!!!

Thanks for visiting!

Have a great day!

Thinking Of You

Today I'm sharing a card I made for The Flower Challenge. I just can't seem to stop inking up these beautiful blooms from Sketchbook Florals (Taylored Expressions). This time around I went with some softer browns and pinks---a very different combo for me---but fitting (I think) for a "thinking of you" card.

I created the pattern behind the flower with two of the stamps included in the Field Notes Stamp Set (Taylored Expressions). They're stamped in Milk Chocolate ink (Altenew). The sentiment is actually heat embossed in gold---unfortunately that's tough to see in the photo, but it is quite pretty in person.

Six inches of snow yesterday here in the mountains. It's beautiful, but I really hope we haven't completely skipped autumn :)

Have a fabulous day!

You're On My Mind

The inspiration for the current "CASE the Designer" challenge over at Global Design Project is absolutely fabulous and features a fun (new-to-me) technique of creating a textured background panel with die-cuts. This technique does take a bit of work, but the results (in my opinion) are totally worth it :)

Here's my card:

I really love the look of the white on white that DT member, Emma, used on her card, so I also chose to go that route. I die-cut 10 of the outline leaves and adhered them with liquid glue in a pattern onto my cardstock panel. I added a stitched die-cut frame on top, stamped my sentiment strip, backed it with a kraft strip and added it to the card following Kayla's layout. To finish, I die-cut one more outline and one of the solid leaves from white cardstock and inked them up with Carved Pumpkin and Barn Door Distress Oxide Inks (Ranger). I like the pop of color against the neutrals :)

I thought about adding some twine or embellishments, but decided against it. In May I sent my grandma a box of assorted cards for her own personal use. She's 89, and she's always loved sending cards, but because of the pandemic she hasn't been able to get out to shop. Well, I spoke with her last Friday and she's used up all of the cards I sent her in May :) So, I'm in the process of making more for her. That being said, the cards I give her need to be relatively flat so they don't require any extra postage or special mailing. I hope she loves this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!!!

Thinking Of You

Today I'm sharing a card I made using some new-to-me stamps/inks/dies and this great sketch from CAS on Friday Challenge 183:

I love the Build-A-Flower: Columbine set from Altenew! It's absolutely gorgeous! My husband and I live in Colorado, and the Columbine is our state flower. July also happens to be the time of year when we see these beauties blooming in the mountain meadows and alongside the trails. They're stunning and so inspiring!

(Note: I took the above photo in July 2019 on the Arapaho Pass Trail---one of our favorites!)

Here's my creation:
