We recently celebrated my husband's 50th birthday!!! So much fun!!! And of course such an extra special occasion deserves an extra special handmade card :)
The beautiful silhouette images in the Color Layering Pier At The Lake stamp set by Hero Arts are a perfect fit for my avid outdoorsman (and his trusty partner...our lab, Pepper...wink)! I recently saw a video by Gina K where she tore two strips of Masking Magic (Gina K) and ink blended in between. I loved the effect and was inspired to try out that same technique as the starting point for my card. After ink blending my background I left the Masking Magic in place and stamped my silhouette images. I also added some water ripples using a stamp from another Hero Arts set called Color Layering Mountains At The Lake. I removed the Masking Magic, added the sentiment (from Script Sentiments by Erin Lee Creative), mounted the finished panel to a slightly larger black panel, and adhered that to a blank white card base.

I had such a great time creating this card!!! And...my husband went crazy for it!!! Since it features Hero Arts products I'm going to link it up over at Stay Crafty With a Blog Named Hero February Challenge: Anything Goes. The challenge is open until March 10th so be sure to check it out!
Also thought I'd share a few photos from our snowy birthday celebration adventure:
